Box Score Crookston, Minn.- The Golden Eagle soccer team played through pouring rain and driving winds, Sunday afternoon, where they were defeated 4-1 by the Marauders of the University of Mary.
The Marauders opened up the game's scoring in the third minute of play as Megan Lowery (Jr., Hayden, Idaho) scored from about ten yards out, beating Crookston starting goalkeeper
Olivia Puttin (So., Rogers, Minn.). Caylin Cathey (Jr., Billings, Mont.) extended the Mary lead to 2-0 when she found the back of the net in the 15
th minute of play. Puttin had a bead on the Cathey shot, but the ball was just out of her reach as she laid out to her right.

Jessica Withrow (Garnerville, Nev.) cut the Mary lead in half as she pounced on a Hannah Smith (Sr., Sacramento, Calif.) rebound in the 32
nd minute of the first half. The goal is the UM Crookston freshman's first collegiate goal and she almost got her second of the season in the second half as she had a quality chance late in the game.
The Marauders added a pair of goals early in the second period of play the, the last coming off a scramble in front of the UM Crookston goal. Puttin made the initial save, the second was blocked from point blank range but the third shot found the foot of an open Jade Smith (Jr., Rochester, England).
The Golden Eagles next action will be a road contest at Minnesota State University on Friday. Opening whistle in the NSIC match is scheduled for 4:00 pm, in Mankato.
