Box Score St. Paul, Minn.- The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team opened up their 2017 season with a neutral site game versus Lindenwood University (St. Charles, Missouri), Friday evening. The Golden Eagles were bested 6-0 in the nonconference tilt.
The Lions out-shot the Crookston side, 23-6, and they were led by Kyleigh Kristensen (Jr., St. Charles, Mo.) who got off six shots, two of which hit the back of the Crookston net. Becky Roberts (Sr., Jefferson City, Mo.) also had a multi-point night for Lindenwood as she tallied four assists.
Junior defender,
Jessica Scott (Post Falls, Idaho/Criminal Justice) was the lone offensive threat for UM Crookston as she took four shots, three of which made it on net. Sophomore keeper,
Olivia Puttin (Rogers, Minn.) was busy in goal making nine total saves, but she also surrendered all six goals through 90 minutes of regulations play.
The Golden Eagles (0-1) will return to the pitch Sunday morning at 11:00 am where they will take on Maryville University (St. Louis, Missouri). The Saints also sit at 0-1 as they suffered a 4-2 loss to host team Concordia University, St. Paul, in a Friday night matchup.
