UMC SAAC to Put On "Bishop Strong" Fundraiser to Raise Money Toward Local Radio Personality's Battle with Cancer

CROOKSTON, Minn.
– The University of Minnesota Crookston Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) is putting on "Bishop Strong – Never Give Up, Never Give In", a fundraiser to benefit KROX Radio broadcaster Matt Bishop, who has served as they Play-by-Play announcer for many UMC athletic events over the last two seasons. The event will be held during UMC's women's and men's basketball games Fri., Feb. 12 at Lysaker Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles will take on Minot State University.

The fundraiser is to help Bishop and his family raise money for medical costs as he fights his battle with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Bishop was diagnosed in December of 2015 after beating his first battle with the disease in October of 2014. Bishop has been working at KROX Radio since November of 2014.

The first 100 fans to the event will receive a "Bishop Strong" t-shirt. In addition, the first 150 fans will also receive a Cancer Awareness wristband. UMC SAAC will be taking free will donations at the door of Lysaker Gymnasium. In addition, you can pledge money per UMC point scored Friday or just donate money directly. You can make checks to UMC SAAC and mail to UMC Athletics, 2900 University Ave., Crookston, MN 56716.

All donations will be given directly to Matt Bishop to help him in his fight with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
