UMC Men's Basketball Hosts Jamestown Tuesday

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball team will continue their non-conference home slate Tues., Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. against University of Jamestown. The game will be the third in a row for the Golden Eagles at Lysaker Gymnasium as they head into Thanksgiving.

The Golden Eagles come into Tuesday with a 2-2 mark on the season. They split last week with an 83-71 loss to University of Wisconsin-Stout and an 83-62 win over Waldorf University. Minnesota Crookston had a great rebound performance against Waldorf as they shot 50.8 percent from the field and 41.4 percent from beyond the arc.

The Golden Eagles have been led so far this season by the strong debut from freshman Harrison Cleary (Fr., G, Oak Creek, Wis.). He is averaging 21.3 points per game after the first four games. Cleary is shooting 55.9 percent from the field and 43.5 percent from beyond the arc on the season. He was the NSIC North Player of the Week last week.

In addition to Cleary, Chase Knickerbocker (So., G/F, Annandale, Minn.) comes in averaging 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds on the season. Knickerbocker is shooting 40.5 percent from beyond the arc. Chase Johnson (Fr., G/F, La Crosse, Wis.) has also had a strong debut to his collegiate career. Johnson is averaging 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds on the season. He is coming off 10 points and seven rebounds against Waldorf and 11 points and six rebounds versus Wisconsin-Stout.

The Golden Eagles are shooting 49.8 from the field this season and 36.2 percent from beyond the arc. They are being out-rebounded by their opponents 35.3 to 32.0.

The University of Jamestown comes into Tuesday with a 2-4 mark on the season. They split over the weekend at the Carroll College Tournament. They defeated University of Great Falls 84-81, but fell to Carroll 89-60.

Jamestown has three players averaging in double figures. Jake Hagler, a senior guard for the Jimmies, comes in averaging 12.8 points per game. He is shooting 41.7 percent from beyond the arc. Riley Henderson is tallying 11.8 pints and 5.0 rebounds per game. 

Henderson is shooting 41.2 percent from beyond the arc. Their post, Jacob Havron, a 6-6 native of Hawaii, is tallying 11.2 points and 4.3 rebounds on the season.

The Jimmies are averaging 80.2 points per game and shooting 45.5 percent from the field and 35.8 percent from beyond the arc. They are giving up 88.5 points per game to their opponents.
