Soccer on the Road Again

Crookston, Minn.- The UMC soccer team will once again hit the road for a pair of NSIC soccer games with conference matches at Wayne State College and Augustana University. With the pair of weekend games, UMC will look to improve on their overall record of 2-9-1, 1-7-1 in the NSIC.
Ā
UMC has been shutout in their last five games and they will take on a pair of teams that don't give up a lot of scoring opportunities. On the season, the Golden Eagles have been outscored 22-5 and they will face a Wildcats team that has only allowed 13 total goals and a Vikings program that has outscored its opposition, 23-15.
Ā
Midfielders, Kallie Gau (Sr., Monticello, Minn./Early Childhood and Elementary Education) and Lindsey Daml (Fr., North Pole, Alaska) have led the Golden Eagles in goals with two each but Daml along with Hannah Riveland (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Abi Awege (Fr., West Bend, Wis.) have had a great deal of solid scoring opportunities as of late and the trio leads their team in shots and shots on goal over the last two weeks.

Saturday at Wayne State College
Ā
The Wildcats currently sit in seventh place in the NSIC with a conference record of 3-3-3. They are coming off a 0-0 tie with Concordia University, St. Paul and will look to a pair of scorers in Carys Hund (So., Elmhurst, Ill.) and Natalie Rech (So., Blair, Neb.) who have combined for seven total scores. Kylie Comba (Sr., Omaha, Neb.) has logged the bulk of the Wildcats' minutes in goal where she has a goals against average of 1.03 and has figured in all nine of the WSC conference decisions.
Ā
Sunday at Augustana University
Ā
The Vikings currently sit in third place, just two points behind Bemidji State and MSU Mankato who are tied for the second spot in the NSIC standings. AU has a conference record of 6-2-1 and they are coming off a 4-0 loss to Mankato. The Vikings have three scorers that are leading their offensive effort in 2016 with Samantha Tymkovicz (Jr., Sioux City, Iowa) taking the lead with four total goals. Ellie Knowles (Jr., Chaska, Minn.) and Julie Plonsky (So., Castle Rock, Colo.) are just behind Tymkovicz as they have each found the back of the net three times. Augustana has only used on keeper in 2016 with Taylor Machacek (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D.) backstopping her team with a goals against of 1.22.
Ā
Both road NSIC matches are scheduled to start at 1:00 pm.
