The Golden Eagles would have good control of the first set as they won 25-19 and hit .226 for the match.

The second set would be a tough one for UMC, but they would find a way to grind it out. Down 24-23 late, the Golden Eagles would get the final three points of the set led by kills from Pearson and Schwarz, as they won 26-24.

The third set would be another close one with the Golden Eagles leading 23-21 late. BSU would win the final four points of the set led by two kills from Amanda Tronick and her service ace to take the set 25-23.

In the fourth set, UMC would play another tight one with BSU but they would have set point 24-23 after an Erickson kill. However, Tronick would get a key kill off of Cashman's serve to knot it up. Attack errors from Perrel and Erickson would lead BSU to a 26-24 set win to force the decisive fifth set.

UMC would look to have control of the fifth set as they ran out to an 11-5 lead following a Cashman service ace and a bad set for Kiecker.
However, a kill from Koshiol would start to turn the tide as they would go down 11-6 and would take the serve with Fox delivering. Fox would win six serves including a service ace to knot it up at 11-11 and then take the lead 12-11 on a Pearson error. The Golden Eagles would take the lead back and would have match point after a Perrel kill to make it 14-13. A kill from BSU's Yost would tie things up at 14-14. Pearson would then get a kill to give UMC another match point, 15-14. However, the Beavers would again respond with a Yost kill to make it 15-15. After a Yost service error, the Golden Eagles would have another match point 16-15, but Tronick would get the kill to make it 16-16 and the Beavers would get another Tronick kill and a Pearson attack error in order to take the set 18-16 and the match 3-2.
