Box Score Crookston, Minn.- The Golden Eagle soccer team closed out a NSIC weekend with a 2-0 win over the University of Mary, Sunday afternoon. With the conference win, UMC improves to 1-4-1, 1-2 in NSIC play.
Â
Junior goalkeeper,
Lexie Gauger (Green Bay, Wisc./Criminal Justice) was tested often in the afternoon match as she faced 14 total Marauder shots with five making their way on net. The five saves were enough as Gauger earned her first win, and shutout, of 2015.
Â
Senior forward,
Courtney Armborst (West St. Paul, Minn./Biology) opened up the game's scoring as she headed home a corner kick that was sent across the box by
Delaney McIntyre's (Flin Flon, Manitoba/Sport and Recreation Management). McIntyre's speed proved to be an issue for the UM defense as she was buzzing all around the field including setting up the other Golden Eagle goal when she set forward
Lorna McCall (Fr., Chicago, Ill.) on net in the game's 52
nd minute of play. The frosh forward chipped the ball over the Marauder keeper, notching the first goal of her college career.
Â
