Box Score Crookston, Minn.- The Golden Eagle soccer team continued their brief home stand Sunday afternoon where they were defeated 1-0 by Missouri Western State University.

Neither team was able to get on the scoreboard in the game's opening half with the Griffon Squad outshooting UMC, 11-0. Golden Eagle goalkeeper,
Lexie Gauger (Jr., Green Bay, Wis.) was up to the task as she made seven total saves in the opening frame.

In the game's 55
th minute WMSU's Bailey Dervin (Jr., Omaha, Neb.) picked up a loose ball and got it to Griffon junior forward, Cassidy Chappell (Owasso, Okla.) who notched the only score of the nonconference contest. The shot from 15 yards out was the only ball to beat Gauger who made another four saves in the second half. Â

Delaney McIntyre (Sr., Flin Flon, Manitoba) had the only shot on goal for UMC and it came on a penalty kick after
Courtney Armborst (Sr., West St. Paul, Minn.) was pulled down in the box. McIntyre's PK was hit solid but missed high on what would have been the tying goal, midway through the second half.

The Golden Eagles (0-2-1) will have to rebound quick as they hit the road tonight for Duluth, Minn. where they have a neutral site contest tomorrow afternoon with Michigan Technological University who currently sits at 2-1 overall. Opening kick in the nonconference contest is scheduled for noon, on the campus of the University of Minnesota Duluth.
