Soccer Downed 2-1 by #20 Augustana

Box Score Sioux Falls, S.D. - For the second straight day, the Golden Eagle soccer team lost a road conference game by one goal as they were defeated, 2-1, by #20 Augustana University, Sunday afternoon.

The Vikings scored the only goal of the opening half as Kallie Nordberg (So., Big Lake, Minn.) finished off a ball in the 38th minute of play. UMC midfielder, Delaney McIntyre (Sr., Flin Flon, Manitoba/Sport and Recreation Management) evened things at 1-1, early in the second frame, when she scored off a header that was kicked into the box by Danielle Gau (Jr., Monticello, Minn.,/Exercise Science and Wellness) on a corner kick.

AU finished off the game's scoring in the 88th minute as Samantha Tymkowicz (So., Sioux City, Iowa) hit a long strike from outside the box. The goal was the second to get past Golden Eagle keeper Lexie Gauger (Jr., Green Bay, Wisc./Criminal Justice) who was busy in net facing 35 Viking shots and making 13 total saves.

The 2-7-1, 2-5 in the NSIC, Golden Eagles will return to the home pitch next weekend when they host the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday and Southwest Minnesota State University on Sunday. Both NSIC games will be played on the Crookston campus with Saturday's opening kick at 11:00 am and Sunday's opening whistle at 1:00 pm.
