Soccer Shut Out on the Road

Box Score Crookston, Minn.- The UMC soccer team hit the road for a pair of NSIC games this weekend and they kicked things off with a 1-0 loss at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, Saturday afternoon.

The only goal of the conference match came early as Christina Stasi (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) scored her first of the season when she headed a ball home off a corner kick sent in by Suenly Galvez (So., Hesperia, Cali.).

Shots were about even in the first half with the Wildcats having the advantage at 6-4. The second half chances were a little more one-sided at WSC outshot the Golden Eagles, 9-3. UMC midfielder, Delaney McIntyre (Sr., Flin Flon, Manitoba/Sport and Recreation Management) had a solid scoring opportunity late as she got a shot off in the final minute of regulation, but her attempt went high, closing out the game's final chances for a regulation tie.

Lexie Gauger (Jr., Green Bay, Wisc./Criminal Justice) was in net for the Golden Eagles where she made a total of five saves.

The 2-6-1, 2-4 in the NSIC, Golden Eagles will have another tough road match tomorrow when they travel to Sioux Falls to take on #20 Augustana University. The Vikings (7-2-1) defeated Bemidji State, 1-0, earlier today and are undefeated in conference play at 5-0-1.
