Box Score Fayette, Iowa- With a number of program milestones met and surpassed Saturday afternoon, the UMC soccer team kicked off a NSIC road weekend with a 2-0 blanking of Upper Iowa University, in Fayette. The win ups UMC's overall record to 6-8-1, equaling 2014's six-win season, and with their conference wins now at six (6-6), 2015 marks the most successful NSIC season in program history, with three games still to play. The conference win is the first over Upper Iowa since 2006 and the three straight road conference wins is a first for the Golden Eagle program.
 
All of the game's scoring came in the second half, with forward Courtney Armborst (West St. Paul, Minn./Biology) hitting the eventual game winner eight minutes into the second period. The senior forward cut in from the sideline and hit a bullet from 25 yards out that went in at the far post. The goal marks her third straight game with a score and is her team leading sixth.
 
Kallie Gau (Monticello, Minn./Early Childhood and Elementary Education) scored the insurance goal, in the 81^st minute of play, as she finished off a scramble in front of the Peacock's net. The goal is the junior midfielder's second of the season.
 
Golden Eagle goalkeeper, Lexie Gauger (Jr., Green Bay, Wis./Criminal Justice) earned her fourth shutout of 2015 where she made four total saves, all in the second half.
 
As the Golden Eagles continue to battle for a spot in the 2015 NSIC tournament, they will play another big game tomorrow when they travel to Winona State University, who has two more wins in the conference standings. Opening kick against the Warriors is scheduled for 1:00 pm in Winona, Minn.
