Soccer Hits the Road for Two NSIC Games

Crookston, Minn. – The Golden Eagles soccer team split last weekend's conference games and if they look to move up in the NSIC standings they will need to earn some points on the road this weekend as they travel down to Wayne State College (Wayne, Neb.) and Augustana University (Sioux Falls, S.D.).

UMC (2-5-1, 2-3) will kick off the weekend with a match against a winless Wayne State team that has an overall record of 0-5-3, 0-4-1 in conference play. The Wildcats have struggled to put points up on the board but they have been close in each of their conference games, including a 1-1 tie with Minnesota State University Moorhead last Sunday.

If the Golden Eagles wish to move up in the NSIC standings they will need to knock off the Wildcats then regroup for Sunday's match at # 20 Augustana University. The game versus the Vikings will be the second Top 25 opponent for UMC in the last week.

This weekend's back-to-back games will be a tough test for Joe Alianiello's Golden Eagle squad who have shown a much improved offensive attack as of late. The Vikings at 4-0-1 in NSIC play feature an offense that is scoring just over two goals a game. Sophomore forward, Samantha Tymkowicz (Sioux City, Iowa) is leading the AU attack as she has scored seven total goals this season.

Six Golden Eagles have scored through the team's eight games. Senior midfielder, Delaney McIntyre (Flin Flon, Manitoba) is leading the team with five total points as she has scored one goal and assisted on three others.

Tomorrow's game in Wayne is scheduled to start at 11:00 am, with the Sunday match in Sioux Falls starting at 1:00 pm.
