CROOKSTON, Minn.- Â The University of Minnesota Crookston women's soccer team will open up Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play against Bemidji State University Tues., Sept. 9 at 4 p.m. at the UMC Soccer Field. The Golden Eagles are 1-0 on the season, while BSU comes into the contest with an 0-1 mark.
Minnesota Crookston had an impressive season debut as they poured in eight goals on Finlandia University Saturday, coming just two goals short of their 2013 total of 10 goals. The Golden Eagles were led by an impressive hat trick by
Courtney Armborst (Jr., F, West St. Paul, Minn.). In addition, freshman
Ellie Brettschneider (Fr., MF/D, Lakeville, Minn.) had one goal and two assists, while fellow freshman
Miranda Mosher (Fr., MF, Watertown, Minn.) had one goal and one assist.
In net,
Lexie Gauger (So., GK, Green Bay, Wis.) had a shutout against the Lions but did not face a shot.
Bemidji State's lone goal on the weekend against South Dakota State, came from defender Rachel Scheller, who tallied her first goal of her career. In net, Sonja Barr allowed one goal and had five saves against the Jackrabbits.Â
BSU was led by Sarah Stram, who tallied seven goals and five assists, last season. In addition, the Beavers return Abigail Nyquist, who had two goals and seven helpers, and Bayley Ertl, who had two goals.
