CROOKSTON, Minn.
– The University of Minnesota Crookston soccer team heads into the heart of their conference schedule and the middle of a six-game road stretch where they will take on Minot State University (1-1-2) and the University of Mary (1-1-2) this weekend.

Junior forward, Courtney Armborst (West St. Paul, Minn.) will look to add to her team high five goals this weekend, but UMC's first match with Minot State, Saturday, 1:00 pm, will be an offensive test as the Beavers have only allowed four goals in their opening four games. The Beavers have only scored a pair of goals thus far, but they have outshot their opponents (53-44) and will look to test UMC keeper Lexie Gauger (So., Green Bay, Wis.) who has a goals against average of 1.34 and has made 12 total saves through four starts.

The Golden Eagles will have another offensive challenge on Sunday at 1:00 pm when they travel to the University of Mary in Bismarck. The Marauders have only allowed one goal in their last two games, but the balanced attack of UMC's offense will be a big part of this weekend's NSIC games as seven Golden Eagles have found the back of the net in the team's first four games. Armborst leads the way with ten total points (10 goals) while frosh midfielder, Ellie Brettschneider (Lakeville, Minn.) is second on the team with four points (1 goal, 2 assists).

"Minot and Mary are two very difficult opponents to play anywhere, let alone on the road," said head coach Joe Alieniello. "They are very physical and speedy opponents and both present different challenges.  This weekend is exactly why I enjoy coaching in this league, every weekend is a battle and I love the competition we see week in and week out."
