CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston men's basketball team will make their 2014-15 regular-season home debut Wed., Nov. 19 as they host University of Jamestown at 7 p.m. at Lysaker Gymnasium. The Golden Eagles enter the week with an 0-2 overall mark after losses to Central Washington University and No. 22 Seattle Pacific University at the Sodexo Tip-off Classic in Seattle, Wash. last weekend. Jamestown enters Wednesday with a 4-4 record.
The Golden Eagles showed signs of growth Monday in an exhibition against NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. UMC went toe-to-toe in the first half against the Panthers and were down just 10 at the break. The Golden Eagles would fall 75-54 to Coach
Dan Weisse's alma mater. UMC shot 33.9 percent from the field against Milwaukee and was strong beyond the arc with a 47.4 shooting percentage.
Tyler West, Jr. led the way with a near double-double on nine points and eight rebounds.
Tim Lubke chipped in eight points, while
Lucas Reller and
Sam Howell each had six.
Jamestown has been led this season by Brequan Tucker's 20.1 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game and 3.6 assists per game. In addition to Tucker, Jake Hagler comes in averaging 12.4 points per game. The Jimmies run a small line-up with four guards and one post. They are in their first season under Head Coach Alan Magnani.
