Box Score MOORHEAD, Minn. – The University of Wisconsin-Parkside upended the University of Minnesota Crookston 82-64 on day two of the Highway 75 Classic at Alex Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minn./ The Golden Eagles fall to 0-2 on the season, while Wisconsin-Parkside improves to 2-0.
The Golden Eagles were led by
Katrina Moenkedick (Jr., F, Perham, Minn./Applied Studies), who tallied 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting.
Isieoma Odor (Fr., F/C, Bloomington, Minn./Health Management) chipped in 10 points and seven rebounds, while
Ebony Livingston (Sr., F, Minneapolis, Minn./Sports and Rec Management) had seven points. UMC was 24-of-54 for 44.4 percent and 3-of-13 for 23.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Gaby Bronson led the Rangers with a triple-double of 14 points, 14 assists and 10 rebounds. Justine Boerger added 18 points, including going 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, while Tara Knapstein had 15 points and Kristin Conniff had 10.
Wisconsin-Parkside shot 27-of-51 for 52.9 percent from the field and were an astouding 12-of-19 for 63.2 percent from beyond the arc.
Wisconsin-Parkside went into half-time leading 41-29 over the Golden Eagles The Rangers led by as many as 18 in the first half (30-12) after a Tara Knapstein three-pointer with 7:54 remaining. The Golden Eagles we able to cut into the deficit.
UMC would come out of the gate strong and would cut the Wisconsin-Parkside lead to six led by an Livingston three and two free throws by Moenkedick. The Golden Eagles would cut into the Rangers' advantage even further as Moenkedick hit a bucket to the cut the lead to four with 15:02 remaining, which would signify a 14-6 run for the Golden Eagles to open the second half.
Wisconsin-Parkside would fire back out to a 54-43 lead with 14:06 remaining as Brittaney Fair hit a jumper, Boerger hit a trey and Jessica Prince had a lay-in. The Rangers would take over for the next few minutes until the 7:27 mark when UMC would get to within single digits as Thielman came up with a steal and a bucket to make it 61-52. However, Wisconsin-Parkside would counter as Bronson nailed a three to make it 64-52.
The Rangers would take over from there, getting out to a 73-54 lead with 4:44 remaining and Wisconsin-Parkside wouldn't look back.
The Golden Eagles will next take the court at Moanalua High School take on University of Hawai'i Hilo Nov. 23 in Honolulu, Hawai'i.
