UMC Soccer Looks To Build Off Last Weekend With Road Tests Against Sioux Falls and SMSU

CROOKSTON, Minn.- The Golden Eagle soccer team is coming off a pair of big home wins as they defeated Wayne State University (3-1) and #20 Augustana College (1-0) last weekend. The team will return to road play this weekend as they head to games at the University of Sioux Falls and Southwest Minnesota State University.

In Saturday's match-up, UMC will take on a USF team that has struggled to find the back of the net and currently have an overall record of 1-8-1, 1-6 in NSIC play. The Cougars have been led by Elisa Martinez (Fr., San Diego, Calif.) and Ciara Howerton (Sr. Independence, Mo.) who each have three goals on the season. Crookston will look to junior forward, Courtney Armborst (West St, Paul, Minn./Biology) who leads the team with seven goals, which has her tied for second in the conference.

Sunday's game at Southwest will feature two of the conference's top scorers as Armborst will go head to head with NSIC leader Miranda Cadena (Jr., Highland, Cal.). The Mustangs will look to score on a Golden Eagle defense that has been stingy, including a combined goals against average of 1.03 for UMC keepers Lexie Gauger (So., Green Bay, Wis./Criminal Justice) and Kallie Gau (So., Monticello, Minn./Early Childhood Education). Gau backstopped the Golden Eagles to the 1-0 shutout over #20 Augustana.

Saturday's match in Sioux Falls, S.D. is scheduled to start at 11:00 am with Sunday's game being scheduled for 1:00 pm in Marshall, Minn.
