Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Women's Soccer team traveled to Houghton, Mich. on Thursday, September 5 to open the 2013 season with a non-conference match against Michigan Tech University (MTU). The Huskies scored a goal in each half to down the Golden Eagles 2-0.
MTU got on the board at 3:19 when Lindsey Van Rooy scored an unassisted goal. Annie Dahlquist closed out the scoring at 71:14 off an assist from Katie Boardman.
Marybeth Spoehr and Jenna Phelps combined on the shutout for MTU with Phelps recording all three saves in the second half.
Lexie Gauger (Fr, GK, Green Bay, Wis.) recorded ten saves for UMC.
The Huskies start the season at 1-0-0. The Golden Eagles open the new campaign at 0-1-0. UMC returns to action on Saturday, September 7 with a non-conference match at Northern Michigan University. Game time is set for 11 a.m. (CST) in Marquette, Mich.
