Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – Eighth ranked Minnesota State University (MSU) scored a goal with 1:01 to go in the first half and then added two more in the second half to defeat the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) 3-1 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) women's soccer match today in Crookston, Minn. MSU improves to 5-1-0 overall and 3-0-0 in the NSIC with the victory. UMC falls to 2-4-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the NSIC.
The Mavericks got on the board at 43:59 when Maddy Smith scored a goal off a header. She was assisted by Emily Erickson. Rebecca Pederson put MSU up 2-0 at 55:36 when she broke loose and scored off a long breakaway. She was assisted by Korey Kronforst. MSU closed out their scoring at 70:05 when Tori Meinhardt scored off an assist from Kiana Nickel.
Kallie Gau (Fr, M, Monticello, Minn.) put the Golden Eagles on the board and made the final score 3-1 at 86:24 when she scored her first collegiate goal. She was assisted by
Amanda Crook (Sr, D, Brandon, Manitoba).
Molly McGough recorded one save for the Mavericks.
Lexie Gauger (Fr, GK, Green Bay, Wis.) recorded two saves for UMC.
The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Saturday, September 28 and Sunday, September 29 when they travel to Wayne State College and Augustana College respectively. Both matches begin at 1 p.m.
