Beavers Down Golden Eagles 1-0 in NSIC Women’s Soccer Opener

Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – Bemidji State University's (BSU) Christine Szurek scored her first goal of the season at 41:56 of the first half and the Beavers held the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) scoreless the rest of the way on their way to a 1-0 victory in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer opener for both teams tonight in Bemidji, Minn.

Samantha Lumberg added the assist on the goal. Sonja Barr stopped both UMC shots on goal.

Lexie Gauger (Fr, GK, Green Bay, Wis.) recorded six saves for the Golden Eagles allowing one goal.

BSU improves to 2-0-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 1-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the NSIC.

UMC plays their home opener on Saturday, September 14 against Providence University College and Theological Seminary of Otterburne, Manitoba. The match begins at 1 p.m. at the UMC Soccer Field.
