15 Three-Pointers Propel Minot State to 88-55 Win Over UMC

Box Score MINOT, N.D. – The University of Minnesota, Crookston fell 88-55 to Minot State University Saturday at MSU Dome in Minot, N.D. in their final regular-season Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game of the season. Minot State controlled play from the onset as they connected on 15 three-pointers on the game led by five from Thomas Korf. The Golden Eagles fall to 3-21 (0-20 NSIC) with Saturday's loss. Minot State improves to 10-14 (9-11 NSIC) with the victory.

The Golden Eagles were led by 14 points from James Sparkman (R-Jr., F, Ypsilanti, Mich.). Ashton Harrell (Jr., G, Houston, Texas) continued his strong play of late as the junior college transfer scored double figures for the fourth-consecutive game. A.J. Barge (R-Fr., G, Carrollton, Ga.) put together one of his strongest performances as the football player turned hoopster scored double figures for the second time in three games with 10 points including two made treys. The Golden Eagles shot 19-of-50 from the field for 38.0 percent and 6-of-21 for 28.6 percent from beyond the arc.

Minot State out-rebounded UMC 27-24 led by seven rebounds from Josh Johnson. The Golden Eagles were led by eight rebounds from Abdou Niang (Sr., F, Dakar, Senegal).

The Beavers had four players tally double figures including three players who connected on three or more three-pointers. Korf poured in 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from beyond the arc while Anthony Enriquez and Johnson also added 15 points. Enriquez was 3-of-6 from behind the three-point line. Eli Williams also hit 3 three-pointers and had 12 points on the night. Dominique McDonald dished out six assists on the game. The Beavers finished Saturday shooting 26-of-58 from the field for 44.8 percent and 15-of-29 for 51.7 percent from three.

UMC was without senior point guard Almir Krdzalic (Sioux Falls, S.D.) for Saturday's game. Joseph Moorer (Fr., G, Los Angeles, Calif.) got the start at the point.

The Golden Eagles will return to play next weekend as they host St. Cloud State University and University of Minnesota Duluth next weekend in the final home contests for the UMC seniors; Krdzalic, Niang, Justin Rake (Sr., G, Petal, Miss.) and Broderick Schmidt (Sr., F, Marion, S.D.)
