(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Women's Soccer team took a 1-0 lead on St. Cloud State University (SCSU) just 57 seconds into today's contest. However, it was not meant to be as the Huskies scored the next three goals to win 3-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action today in Crookston, Minn.
UMC's
Nikki Hammond (Sr, F, Nelson, Minn./Health Sciences) found the left corner of the net at 0:57 in unassisted fashion scoring her third goal of the season. The Golden Eagles held SCSU at bay until 41:11 when Kara Dahmen scored an unassisted goal to knot things up1-1 going into halftime.
The Huskies took the lead at 55:27 when Taige Thoreson scored off an assist from Kara Espinoza to make the score 2-1. SCSU clinched the game at 86:06 when Naomi Kolhoff scored off assists from Kayla Stevenson and Haley Greving to make the final tally 3-1.
Brittany Plombon recorded two saves for the Huskies.
Lexie Gauger (Fr, GK, Green Bay, Wis./Criminal Justice) recorded eight saves for UMC.
SCSU improves to 9-7-1 overall and 6-7-1 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 3-10-4 overall and 1-9-4 in the NSIC.
UMC closes out the 2013 season on Sunday, November 3 at the University of Minnesota Duluth. The NSIC match begins at 1 p.m.
