(Crookston, Minn.) – The 18th ranked Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) Mustangs lived up to their ranking today as they defeated the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) 3-0 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer match at the UMC Soccer Field. SMSU improves to 10-0-0 overall and 7-0-0 in the NSIC. UMC falls to 2-7-1 and 0-6-1.
The Mustangs got on the board at 16:28 when Autumn Hayes found the back of the net off an assist from Miranda Cadena. Kendahl Fisher put SMSU up 2-0 at 18:05 when she scored off an assist from Cadena. Hayes closed out the scoring at 63:12 when she scored off a penalty kick.
Brienna Dehkes recorded the shutout with three saves.
Drew Underdahl (Jr, GK, Zumbro Falls, Minn./Agricultural Business) recorded six saves for the Golden Eagles.
UMC returns to NSIC action on Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 when they travel to Minnesota State University Moorhead and Northern State University. Saturday's match begins at 12 p.m. and Sunday's begins at 1 p.m.
