(Crookston, Minn.) – It was a cold, wet and blustery day as the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Women's Soccer team entertained a homecoming crowd and hosted the University of Sioux Falls (USF) in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer match at the UMC Soccer Field today. The Cougars took advantage of a goal with just over a minute remaining in the first half to come away with a 1-0 victory.
Ciara Howerton found the back of the net off an assist from Rachel Mata at 43:25. Corrin Cook recorded the shutout for USF stopping two Golden Eagle shots on goal.
Drew Underdahl (Jr, GK, Zumbro Falls, Minn./Agricultural Business) recorded two saves for UMC.
The Golden Eagles fall to 2-6-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the NSIC. The Cougars improve to 1-7-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the NSIC.
UMC returns to action on Sunday, October 6 when they host Southwest Minnesota State University at the UMC Soccer Field. The match begins at 1 p.m.
