UMC Women’s Soccer Hits the Road for the Second Straight Weekend

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) Women's Soccer team hits the road for the second straight weekend on Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 to face Upper Iowa University (UIU) and Winona State University (WSU) respectively. The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) matches begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.

The Golden Eagles hold an overall record of 3-7-2 and NSIC record of 1-6-2 after picking up four points on the road this past weekend. It was the first time in program history that the Golden Eagles have picked up two positive results on the road in the same weekend in NSIC play. UMC topped Minnesota State University Moorhead (MSUM) 2-1 in the battle for the Highway 75 Rivalry Rock on Saturday. The Golden Eagles settled for a hard fought 0-0 double overtime tie at Northern State University on Sunday. 

Delaney McIntyre (So,M, Flin Flon, Manitoba/Sport and Recreation Management) recorded one goal and added an assist for three points in the victory over MSUM. Lexie Gauger (Fr, GK, Green Bay, Wis./Criminal Justice) allowed only one goal on the weekend while playing 200 minutes. She recorded 13 saves and also picked up her second career shutout. Rachelle Alcini (Jr, D, Ann Arbor, Mich./Health Sciences) helped lead a backline to a 1-0-1 record while only allowing one goal over the weekend on the road against MSU Moorhead and Northern State including just 4 shots on goal against Northern State on Sunday.

Nikki Hammond (Sr, F, Nelson, Minn./Health Sciences), Kallie Gau (Fr, M, Monticello, Minn/Early Childhood Education) and McIntyre all have four points on the season. Hammond and Gau have each scored two goals while McIntyre has scored one goal and added two assists. Rachel Halligan (Sr, D, Duluth, Minn./Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education) has scored one goal and added one assist for three points. Gauger has a 1.15 goals against average and a .833 saves percentage with two shutouts.

Golden Eagles @ Upper Iowa University                                                    Saturday, October 19                                      3 p.m.

The Peacocks have an overall record of 9-3-0 and NSIC record of 7-2-0 after dropping a 1-0 decision to 21st ranked Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) on Saturday and defeating the University of Sioux Falls (USF) 5-1 on Sunday. UIU is led by Aimee Wronski who has scored 11 goals and added three assists for 25 points. Madie Edwards has scored five goals and added three assists for 13 points. Kaitlyn Emanuel has a 1.09 goals against average and a.812 saves percentage with four shutouts.

Golden Eagles @ Winona State University                                               Sunday, October 20                                            12 p.m.

The Warriors have an overall record of 8-2-2 and NSIC record of 7-2-0 after defeating USF 3-1 on Saturday and handing SMSU their lone loss 1-0 on Sunday. Alaina Kne and Kati Baker have each scored three goals with one assist for seven points. Alexandra Vial has a 0.54 goals against average and a .879 saves percentage with six shutouts.
