Ashleigh Erdmann (So, GK, Crookston, Minn.) recorded nine saves as the Golden Eagles notched their first win of the season defeating the University of Sioux Falls (USF) 3-2 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action today in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Cougars got on the board first at 13:22 when Mikenna Greathouse scored off an assist from Sidney Allen to put USF up 1-0. UMC countered at 16:27 when
Rachel Halligan (Jr, D, Duluth, Minn.) scored an unassisted goal to knot the game at 1-1.
The second half saw the Golden Eagles take a 2-1 lead at 58:12 when Halligan scored her second goal off Flynn's first assist. Crook put the game away at 66:38 off Flynn's second assist. USF made the final score 3-2 at 75:49 when Greathouse scored her second goal of the game once again assisted by Allen. USF's Samantha Maybon recorded two saves.
The Cougars fall to 0-10-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the NSIC. UMC improves to 1-8-1 overall and 1-5-1 in the NSIC.
The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Saturday, October 6 and Sunday October 7 when they host Northern State University and Minnesota State
University Moorhead respectively. Saturday's match begins at 11 a.m. while Sunday's begins at 1 p.m.
