Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU) scored two goals in each half and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) 4-0 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action today in Marshall, Minn.
The Mustangs struck first just 2:20 into the game when Autumn Hayes scored off a penalty kick. SMSU increased their lead to two goals at 35:07 when Kayla Williams scored off an assist from Brittany Bravo.
The second half was more of SMSU's offensive output as Kylee Nolan scored at 59:33 when the ball bounced off UMC goalkeeper
Drew Underdahl (So, GK, Zumbro Falls, Minn.) and rolled in. Nolan was assisted by Kendahl Fisher. The Mustangs scored for the final time at 62:59 when Bravo got into the goal column off an assist from Demi Rorvick.
Sonya Smith played 74:54 in net for SMSU recording three saves. Kristi Leopold played the final 15:06 also recording three saves. Underdahl played the entire game in net for the Golden Eagles surrendering four goals but recording four saves.
The Mustangs improve to 5-3-0 overall and 3-3-0 NSIC. UMC falls to 0-8-1 overall and 0-5-1 in the NSIC.
The Golden Eagles return to NSIC action on Sunday, September 30 when they travel to the University of Sioux Falls. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
