Golden Bears First Half Barrage Downs Golden Eagles 3-1 in NSIC Women’s Soccer

Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – Concordia University, St. Paul (CSP) scored three first-half goals, including two within the first ten minutes, and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) 3-1 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) match today in St. Paul, Minn. It was CSP's first NSIC win of the season.

The Golden Bears got on the board at 6:47 when Chloe Moore scored her second goal of the year off a header from a corner kick. She was assisted by Amanda Olsen. CSP made the score 2-0 at 9:05 when Olsen deflected a shot off a UMC defender for her fourth goal of the season. She was assisted by Brittany Kapala. The Golden Bears closed out their scoring with their third goal at 28:55 when Jess Bianchi scored her second goal of the season. She was assisted by Kaelyn Rae Smith.

The Golden Eagles scored their goal at 72:20 when Rachel Halligan (Jr, D, Duluth, Minn.) scored her first goal of the season off a header from a corner kick. She was assisted by Megan Flynn (Sr, D, Chanhassen, Minn.). It was Flynn's second assist in two days.

Emma Gartner picked up the win for CSP surrendering one goal while recording one save on two UMC shots on net. Drew Underdahl (So, GK, Zumbro Falls, Minn.) played the first half for the Golden Eagles surrendering three goals while recording seven saves on ten shots on goal. Ashleigh Erdmann (So, GK, Crookston, Minn.) played the second half and recorded two saves on two shots on net.

CSP improves to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 0-6-0 overall and 0-3-0 in the NSIC.

The University of Minnesota, Crookston returns to NSIC action on Saturday, September 22 and Sunday, September 23 when they return home for homecoming weekend. The Golden Eagles host Augustana College on Saturday at 11 a.m. and Wayne State College on Sunday at 1 p.m.
