Golden Eagle Women’s Basketball Closes Out Season at Home this Weekend

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Basketball team closes out the 2011-12 season this Friday and Saturday at home after playing the previous four games on the road. The Golden Eagles host #3 Wayne State College on Friday, February 24 at 6 p.m. and follow that game on Saturday, February 25 against #23 Augustana College at 4 p.m. Friday night will be Hawaiian Night in Lysaker Gymnasium while Saturday afternoon will be Senior Day as the women's and men's seniors will be recognized between games. Minnesota, Crookston- (9-15, 6-14 NSIC) The Golden Eagle Women's Basketball team closed out its road portion of the season this weekend against Upper Iowa and Winona State. UMC went 0-2 but senior Megan Eul (F, 5-10, Sr, Rosemount, Minn.) played a sensational 58 minutes. Eul scored 26 points (13 ppg) and grabbed 21 rebounds (10.5 rpg) to average a double-double in the two NSIC contests. She was 9-18 from the field, 2-3 from long range and 6-8 from the free-throw line.
 
#3 Wayne State College- (24-2, 18-2 NSIC) Ashley Arlen, 6-2 senior forward from Cascade, Iowa, notched her 10th double-double of the season by scoring 19 points, all in the second half, to go with 11 rebounds while helping #3 Wayne State edge #23 Augustana 59-56 Saturday evening in a battle of the top two teams in the NSIC. Arlen was 7 of 16 from the field and 4 of 4 at the foul line while also recording three assists and two blocks as WSC won its 42nd straight home game.
 
#23 Augustana College- (19-5, 16-4 NSIC) Alex Feeney (F, 6-0, Jr. , Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck HS) recorded her seventh-season double-double and the 11th double-double of her career, scoring 20 points and collecting 11 rebounds for No. 23 Augustana in its lone contest of the week against No. 3 Wayne State. Feeney was 7 of 17 (41.2 percent) from the field and she made all five of her free throws. Other totals for Feeney include two assists, one block and one steal.
