Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer Team Closes Out 2012 Season

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) Women's Soccer team closes out the 2012 season with a home and road Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) series. The Golden Eagles face the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) in Crookston on Friday, October 26 at 3 p.m. UMC will then travel to St. Cloud State University (SCSU) on Sunday, October 28 for a 1 p.m. match.

UMC has an overall record of 2-13-1 and an NSIC record of 2-10-1 after dropping at 5-1 decision at the University of Mary and a 5-0 decision at Minot State University on Sunday. They are led by Rachel Halligan (Jr, D, Duluth, Minn.) who has scored three goals and added two assists for eight points. Elizabeth Busch (Fr, M, Sioux Falls, S.D.) has scored two goals and added one assist for five points while Megan Flynn (Sr, D, Chanhassen, Minn.) has five assists for five points. Ashleigh Erdmann (So, GK, Crookston, Minn.) has a 1.55 goals against average and a .800 saves percentage.

The Golden Eagles will bid farewell to five seniors. Carly Mirwaldt (Sr, M, Ft. Wayne, Ind.), Amye Berg (Sr, D, Lino Lakes, Minn.), Megan Flynn (Sr, D, Chanhassen, Minn.), Jensen Crots (Sr, D, Chesterton, Ind.) and Amanda Crook (Sr, D, Brandon, Manitoba) will all be playing their final games for UMC.

Golden Eagles vs. University of Minnesota Duluth    Friday, October 26        3 p.m.

The Bulldogs have an overall record of 7-6-2 and NSIC record of 6-5-2 after defeating Northern State University 4-2 and Minnesota State University Moorhead 3-1 this past weekend. UMD is led by Maureen Stormont who has scored seven goals and added three assists for 17 points. Dani Potter has scored five goals and added five assists for 15 points while Jennifer Smith has scored four goals and seven assists for 15 points. Marisa Rosa has a 1.45 goals against average and a .730 saves percentage.

Golden Eagles @ St. Cloud State University        Sunday, October 28        2 p.m.    

The Huskies have an overall record of 8-6-2 and NSIC record of 7-5-1 after defeating Minnesota State University Moorhead 2-0 on Saturday and settling for a 1-1 tie with Northern State University on Sunday. Gabby Fleck has scored four goals and added three assists for 11 points. Kenzie Hanzlik has a 0.97 goals against average and a .822 saves percentage.
