Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – After over 70 minutes of scoreless play, Upper Iowa University (UIU) scored two goals and went on to defeat the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) 2-0 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer match today in Crookston, Minn.
The Peacocks first got on the board at 70:33 when Trina Gallagher found the back of the net off an assist from Alyssa Petersburg. UIU made the final score 2-0 at 81:58 when Petersburg got into the goal column off an assist from Valeria Ptasinski.
Amanda Smith got the shutout for the Peacocks recording three saves.
Ashleigh Erdmann (So, GK, Crookston, Minn.) recorded six saves for the Golden Eagles.
UIU improves to 11-2-1 overall and 8-2-1 in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles fall to 2-11-1 overall and 2-8-1 in the NSIC.
UMC returns to NSIC action on Saturday, October 20 and Sunday, October 21 when they hit the road to face the University of Mary and Minot State University respectively. Saturday's match with U-Mary will take place at 3 p.m. in Mandan, N.D. Sunday's match with the Beavers will take place at 2 p.m. in Minot, N.D.
