Box Score (Crookston, Minn.) – Winona State University's (WSU) Mehan Bolton scored off an assist from CoCo Sames 6:42 into overtime as the Warriors defeated the University of Minnesota, Crookston (UMC) 2-1 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Women's Soccer action today in Crookston, Minn.
The Golden Eagles struck first at 48:24 when
Elizabeth Busch (Fr, M, Sioux Falls, S.D.) scored her first goal of the season off assists from
Rachel Halligan (Jr, D, Duluth, Minn.) and
Courtney Armborst (Fr, F, West St. Paul, Minn.).
WSU knotted the score at one all when Sames bounced a goal in off the left pipe. She was assisted by Alaina Kne. The score remained 1-1 until Bolton's goal at 96:42 won the game for the Warriors.
Both goalkeepers were excellent in net with UMC's
Drew Underdahl (So, GK, Zumbro Falls, Minn.) recording six saves and WSU's Alexandra Vial recording two saves.
The Warriors improve to 10-3-0 overall and 9-1-0 in the NSIC. They sit in sole possession of second place. The Golden Eagles fall to 2-10-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the NSIC.
UMC closes out their four-game home-stand on Sunday, October 13 when they host Upper Iowa University at the UMC Soccer Field. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
