(Mankato, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team traveled to Mankato, Minn. today to play the Mavericks in an NSIC contest. Minnesota State used a stiff breeze, solid defense and strong special teams to shorten the field for the offense. Minnesota State had drives of 25, 17, 19, 26, 92 and 39 yards to help them to a 42-0 NSIC victory.
The Golden Eagle offense was led today by
Richard Haley (RB, 6-0, 205, Jr., Detroit, Mich.) who rushed 25 times for 87 yards. He scampered for a long of 22 yards and averaged 3.5 yards/rush.
Cody Hendrickson (DB, 5-10, 185, Sr., Wright, Minn.) led the Golden Eagle defense and all players with 10 (5 assisted, 5 unassisted) tackles. The UMC defense also intercepted two MSU passes in the contest.
Minnesota State was led by Andy Pfeiffer who rushed 25 times for 145 yards and one touchdown. He had a long of 20 yards and averaged 5.8 yards/rush. Quarterback Jon Daniels completed 13 passes for 182 yards and four touchdowns. The Mavericks scored 21 points in each of the first and third quarters.
The Golden Eagles are now 1-2 on the season and 0-2 in the NSIC. Minnesota State moves to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Minnesota, Crookston travels to Moorhead next Saturday to take on NSIC rival MSU Moorhead. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
