Nikki Hammond (So, F, Nelson, Minn.) scored a goal at 12:21 of the game and
Amanda Stapleton (Jr, G, Jonesboro, Ark.) kept Minot State University out of the Golden Eagle net as the University of Minnesota, Crookston defeated the Beavers 1-0 for their first victory of the season on a cold, blustery day in Crookston, Minn. The game was a non-conference contest with Minot State University who will be joining the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) next season.
Hammond's goal came off assists from
Jessica Ramirez (Fr, F, Millbrae, Cal.) and
Jessica Goodrich (So, F, Munster, Ind.). Stapleton stopped eight shots to record the shut-out.
U of M, Crookston improves to 1-4-0. Minot State University falls to 3-2-0.
The Golden Eagles open NSIC action at home on Saturday, September 17 and Sunday, September 18 when they host Bemidji State University and the University of Minnesota Duluth respectively. Both games start at 1 p.m.
