Golden Eagle Football Travels to Mankato, Minn. to Play Mavericks this Saturday

(Crookston, Minn.)-  The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team looks to recover from a tough 35-24 loss to Wayne State College as the team travels to Minnesota State, Mankato this Saturday, September 17 to play the Mavericks. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Last weekend the Mavericks defeated Northern State 32-10.

Minnesota, Crookston (1-1, 0-1 NSIC)- Minnesota, Crookston was led for the second time this season by running back Richard Haley (RB, 6-0, 205, Jr., Detroit, Mich.) rushed 30 times for 154 yards and one score to lead all running backs in the game. He busted a long rush of 55 yards and averaged 5.1 yards/carry. He led all NSIC runningbacks in yards on Saturday and now leads all players on the season by 184 yards in 60 attempts. Defensively, Tevin Kellum (DB, 6-1, 195, Jr., Detroit, Mich.) had an outstanding day against the Wildcats. He tallied a game-high 13 tackles of which nine were solo, good for third place overall on the weekend in the NSIC. The Golden Eagles travel to Minnesota State, Mankato on Saturday, September 17 to take on the Mavericks. Game time is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Minnesota State, Mankato (1-1, 1-0 NSIC)-
Redshirt Freshman running back Andy Pfieffer, Mankato Minn./ West (6-0, 195) became MSU's first 100-yard carrier of the season as he rushed 14 times for 111 yards in MSU's win over Northern State Saturday. Pfieffer, who had a run of 53 yards in the win, averaged 7.9 yards per carry. His 53-yard scamper was the fifth-longest rush by a Maverick under head coach Todd Hoffner. Junior linebacker Marcus Hall-Oliver (Omaha, Neb./Central/Nebraska-Omaha) led all Maverick tacklers with seven stops in Saturday's win over Northern State, four of which were solo. Hall-Oliver also recorded an interception and had half a tackle for a loss. Senior Jon Daniels 70-yard touchdown pass to senior LaMark Brown marked the fourth longest passing play under head coach Todd Hoffner and the longest since Will Brogan connected Dennis Carter on an 80-yard touchdown a on Oct. 9, 2010 against St. Cloud State... MSU had four scoring drives Saturday of 70 yards or more, scoring touchdowns on drives of 76, 80, 70 yards and kicking a field goal on a 71-yard drive...MSU has won their last five home openers.
