Golden Eagle Women’s Soccer Team Opens Regular Season With Two Non-Conference Contests

(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Soccer team opens the regular season in Michigan's Upper Peninsula with a pair of non-conference games on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday September 4 against Northern Michigan University and Michigan Tech University respectively. Both games start at 1 p.m. (E.S.T.).

The Golden Eagles finished the exhibition portion of their schedule last week defeating Jamestown College 1-0 and Jabroni F.C. 2-0 to finish with a record of 2-1.

Top returning players from last season's squad include Brittany Taylor (So, F, Noblesville, Ind.) who scored two goals and added one assist for five points. Jessica Goodrich (So, F, Munster, Ind.) scored one goal and added three assists for five points. Megan Flynn (Jr, D, Chanhassen, Minn.) scored one goal and added two assists for four points.

Golden Eagles @ Northern Michigan University  Saturday, September 4          1 p.m. (E.S.T.)

The Wildcats finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 9-6-5 and a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) record of 8-4-3. They open their season at the University of Minnesota Duluth on Thursday, September 1. Amelia Johnson leads the Wildcat returning players having scored nine goals for 18 points.

Golden Eagles @ Michigan Tech University  Sunday, September 5                    1 p.m. (E.S.T.)

The Huskies open the season on Saturday, September 3 against Bemidji State University. They finished the 2010 season with an overall record of 7-10-0 and GLIAC record of 5-10-0. Melanie Hoffman scored five goals and added three assists for 13 points last season.
