(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team heads to Minnesota Duluth this Saturday for the team's final road game of the season. The Golden Eagles and Bulldogs will meet on Saturday, November 5 at 1:00 p.m.
Minnesota, Crookston (1-8, 0-8 NSIC)- Concordia- St. Paul defeated the University of Minnesota, Crookston 38-20 on Saturday. A.J. Barge (QB, 6-3, 190, Fr., Carrollton, Ga.) led the Golden Eagle offense with 113 rushing yards on 21 carries. He completed 11 passes for 92 yards and rushed for a touchdown and threw for a touchdown. Haley rushed a game-high 27 times for 96 yards and one touchdown.
Eric Fiege (WR, 5-9, 175, Jr., San Diego, Calif.) caught three passes for 31 yards. Defensively, the Golden Eagles held the Golden Bears to 4 of 11 in third down conversions.
Cecil Brown (LB, 5-10, 205, Jr., Edison, Ga.) led the defense with 10 (4 solo, 6 assisted) total tackles. He tallied 1.5 tackles for a loss of three yards and recovered one fumble. The trio of
Cody Hendrickson (DB, 5-10, 185, Sr., Wright, Minn.),
Justin Overby (LB, 6-3, 240, Sr., Langdon, N.D.) and Chris DeVaughn (DB, 6-1, 170, So., Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) each had an interception on the day. The UMC defense also earned five tackles for a loss of 13 yards.
Minnesota Duluth (7-2, 6-2 NSIC)- The defending NCAA II champion Bulldogs will open up a two-game regular season-ending homestand this Saturday with a 1 p.m. clash against the University of Minnesota Crookston. UMD's hopes of becoming the NSIC's first four-peat champion in 33 years took a major blow Saturday in the form of a 35-7 setback at St. Cloud State University. The loss was only the Bulldogs' fourth in their last 53 games in first in their last eight meetings with the Huskies. The Bulldogs have won 32 straight NSIC games in a row at James S. Malosky Stadium, going back to a 37-27 loss to Concordia University-St. Paul on Oct. 7, 2000. UMD is also a perfect 23-0 versus North Division opponents since the NSIC instituted the two division format in 2008.
