(Crookston, Minn.)- The University of Minnesota, Crookston Football team hits the road for an NSIC match-up against Concordia- St. Paul on Saturday, October 29. The Golden Eagles fell to #14 St. Cloud State last Saturday 66-13. The Golden Bears fell 58-24 at Winona State on October 22.
Minnesota, Crookston (1-7, 0-7 NSIC)- Minnesota, Crookston hosted #14 St. Cloud State University at Ed Widseth Field on Saturday. The Golden Eagle offense was led by A.J. Barge (QB, 6-3, 190, Fr., Carrollton, Ga.) who completed six passes for 54 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed 11 times for 34 yards with a long of 18 yards.
Richard Haley (RB, 6-0, 205, Jr., Detroit, Mich.) rushed 23 times for 74 yards and averaged 3.2 yards/rush. Lecher caught two passes for 29 yards with one touchdown. The Golden Eagle offense was 2-2 inside the red-zone on the day. Defensive back
Freedom McCullough (DB, 6-2, 190, So., Valley Village, Calif.) followed up an 11 tackle game against Northern State with a 13 tackle day today including 12 solo tackles. Kicker
Chris Secrest (K, 5-11, 170, Jr., Hollywood, Fla.) finished the game with a career-high 44 yard field goal and a 40 yard field goal. The Golden Eagles travel to Concordia- St. Paul on Saturday, October 29 to play the Golden Bears. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
Concordia- St. Paul (3-5, 2-5 NSIC)- #31 Taylor Selby (OLB, 6-2, 230, Sr., Stratford, Wis. / Stratford HS) Selby set a new school record with 6.0 tackles for loss on Saturday at Winona State. The performance vaulted him to first in the league with 12.5 TFL's after not even being in the top-10 prior to Saturday's game. The mark is also tied for the most in a game by any player in the league this season. Selby finished with 10 tackles and 2.0 sacks in addition to the TFL's against the Warriors. He's on the fourth player ever to record at least 5.0 TFL's in a game and the last since 2006, also against Winona State. #5 Jeremy Randle (DB/KR, 5-10, 195, Jr., Minneapolis, Minn. / DeLaSalle HS) Randle bolted 92 yards for a touchdown to open the second half on Saturday against Winona State, the third longest kickoff return in the conference this season and the third longest run back in school history. Randle's 92-yard dash is also the sixth longest known play in Concordia history. Randle now moves into second in the league in kickoff return average at 29.9 on the season. Senior Charles Gilbert continues his league lead in receiving while catching a touchdown in a ninth consecutive game. In 2011, he's hauled in at least one score every week and has nine touchdowns while scoring 21 over his 20 game two year career with Concordia. On Saturday, Gilbert hauled in a 22-yarder, his second shortest career touchdown. His 755 receiving yards lead the league and his nine TD's are second. He's also fifth with 1,114 all-purpose yards and averages 22.9 yards per reception.
