Lee Anderson

Lee Anderson enters his ninth season with the Golden Eagles heading into the 2015 slate. Anderson's tenure at UMC has been highlighted by marked improvement, as the Golden Eagles have become a competitive force in the nation's best conference.

Anderson led the Golden Eagles to unprecedented success during the 2013 season with a school-record 15 wins, including 10 conference victories as the team earned a berth in the NSIC/US Bank Tournament for the first time in program history.

UMC's 2014 season would be strong, as well, but the Golden Eagles would lose 6-of-7 five set matches and would finish with 11 wins on the year. UMC's season was highlighted by wins over Maryville University, St. Cloud State University and Minnesota State University, Mankato.

The Golden Eagles have also had the privilege of making the NCAA record books in each of the last two seasons. UMC set the NCAA record for most points in a set with 37 against Augustana during the 2013 season, they came one point from beating that record as they score 36 in a set against Bemidji State in 2014.

Anderson's turnaround of the program began during the 2011 season as they would achieve 12 wins after going winless during the 2010 campaign.

The growth of the program has been due much to the recruiting of Anderson. The Golden Eagles have brought in several players who were among the NSIC's best during Anderson's tenure led by four-time All-NSIC selection Brittany Looker, the all-time kills leader at UMC, who was an All-NSIC First Team pick in 2014, and Chelsea Wiesner, the all-time digs leader in school history. UMC looks to continue to improve due to strong recruiting in Minnesota, a hot bed for volleyball.

Prior to his appointment at UMC, Anderson served as the head volleyball coach at Glenville State College in Glenville, W.V. for two seasons (2005-06). In 2005, the Pioneers had a record of 3-28. Anderson turned the 2006 season around, finishing with a record of 10-17. The team set a new school record for conference wins in a season. The team also had one player named 2nd team All-Conference, one named Honorable Mention and three freshmen made the All-Freshmen team.

A native of Renfrew (Ontario), Canada, Anderson also served as the assistant women's volleyball coach at Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich. During Anderson's tenure as assistant coach, the Bulldogs compiled a record of 41-21 (.661), including a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC) Tournament Championship in 2004 and a trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament. He served as head coach for three seasons (2000-03) at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario. At Lakehead, Anderson had a 13-38 (.342) overall record in the Ontario University Athletics East Division during his three seasons at the helm, including a fifth place finish in 2002-03. He also directed volleyball sport development camps and organized department media conferences during his tenure. In addition to his coaching duties, Anderson served as a practical instructor in the school's Kinesiology Department.

Besides his collegiate coaching experience, Anderson has also coached various midget, youth and high school teams since earning a Bachelor of Science degree in human kinetics from the University of Ottawa (Ontario) in 1998. His previous head coaching positions included Henry Wisewood High School (1999) in Calgary, Ottawa's Immaculata High School (1995-98) along with both the Northwestern Ontario Under-18 (2002) and Under-17 (2001-02) development teams. In 2000, Anderson earned his masters degree in kinesiology with a specialization in the art and science of coaching from the University of Calgary.
